Why a Guitar Chords Chart Is Beneficial Original post: Sat 7/9/2022 at 3:53 PM

Guitar playing is the dream or aspiration of millions of people. That first guitar; no matter how many others you may own down the line, will always hold a special place with you. But you must learn how to play it to begin with.

There is a learning curve associated with guitar playing. There's no way around it. When first starting out you will be strumming stuff that sounds like it does not make sense. This is the time when you will need the help of a guitar chords chart.

It will be beneficial to first start out with a quality but basic chord gitar chart to get you going. However, make sure that it contains all the essential and most commonly played guitar chords, i.e. the chords that are in most songs, so that from those essential chords you can learn to play many songs.

There is no need to pay for these as the internet is chock-full of free guitar chords charts, however finding a quality one is the tricky part. What you definitely want in the beginning though are ones that high resolution in nature so you will have a better view of the guitar tab chord structures. You could also opt to shell out a few dollars for a guitar instruction book, and sometimes these books also come with a guitar chords chart in print form within the book. But again, this is not ideal because it is hard to hang this on your wall or in an easy and comfortable place where you can see it when playing guitar.

Understand that in the beginning you may experience high levels of frustration. However, do not give up. Even the most talented guitar players will tell you they went through it and didn't give up, so you are not alone. And they would also tell you what a great help it was to have the guidance provided by a guitar chords chart that's easy to see when playing and learning guitar. Of course your eventual goal is to memorize all the chords on the guitar chords chart until you can finger and strum them without even having to look - it becomes second nature.

At first glance, a guitar chords chart is going to resemble a checkerboard full of white and black pieces. But fear not; stick with it and before you know it you will be to the point where you can just pick up your guitar and start strumming away. The lines and black dots you see on a guitar chords chart are not checkers or pieces, they are guitar tab for chords. They show the positions you need to place your fingers, i.e. which string and which fret you need to place which finger before you strum the chord.

Here is a great tip. If you know someone who is well-versed in guitar playing, get in touch with them to setup a short guitar playing session, and for you both to play the chords in the guitar chords chart to practice. This is a great way of speeding up the process of learning the chords, and finding easier ways of placing your fingers within the chords.

The number one thing you must realize with playing the guitar and navigating the a guitar chords chart, is that there are no shortcuts in guitar playing, its really just a matter of practice. You are going to have to get in the trenches like everyone else did, and when I say trenches I mean sore fingers. But in the long run, when you are able to play just about anything your heart desires, you will know that it was well worth it.

And remember that playing guitar chord is a fun and enjoyable practice, so as long as you feel that way every time you pick up your guitar, the practicing won't even seem that difficult.
