First Monday Trade Days may be a popular event in East Texas, but that doesn't stop hundreds of thousands of people from traveling to The city of Canton for four days each month. From Thursday to sunday, just before the 1st Monday every month, hundreds and vendors set up shop for shoppers with hundreds of choices.

canton flea market that began over a century ago as a flea-market has turned into an area that houses some of the most exciting, cutting-edge home furnishings, antiques and collectibles located anywhere. Over the last 150 years, a lot of things have changed in what was once the Original First Monday Park; however, the authentic, down-to-earth people-to-people relationships between vendors as well as customers is the reason why people continue to return.

According to The First Monday Trade Days website It is the most prestigious and longest continuously operating outdoor flea market across the United States.

According to people from selling on markets, idea is that First Monday Trade Days started in the 1850's as the circuit judge was able to be in Canton on the first Monday of each month. Folks from all over the county came into the city to attend to their court matters. Overtime, residents would bring their own merchandise, whether it was livestock, produce or any other unique pieces to trade or sell. In 1965 First Monday outgrew the town's Town Square so it was transferred to the present place. The rest is history...

First Monday Trade Days is comprised of a range of private vendors, so the odds are, regardless of how many times you visit, you'll never truly see everything. The flea market sits in a large area that covers over 700,00 square feet of space for shopping.

Participating in First Monday is free, however the majority parking lots that surround the trade site charge $5 for parking
