Eat and run: My Unforgettable Journey to Ultimate High Endurance and Racing Success is an incredible 2021 autobiography by the world-known ultra-marathon and triathlon athlete Scott Jurek. It was just released by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in June of 2021. It's an amazing book. I cannot wait to read it. It discusses a lot of topics that athletes don't really talk about, like diet, nutrition and psychology, but the book provides so much information that it doesn't matter. It's great!

Jurek breaks each chapter down into its own chapter and provides tons of tips and advice, as well as a lot of photos and illustrations. He also includes a Q&A section at the end of the book with some of his top tips and techniques for better running. He says that you should alternate these foods between three times per week.

Jurek tells the reader that he eats five Big Macs and a glass of milk each day, which is not only healthier but also more economical. Some of the vegan recipes in the Eat and Run book include pizza, tofu scramble, and bean salad. Jurek emphasizes that most people don't know what to eat when it comes to eating healthy and staying fit, and by incorporating veganism into his diet, he can achieve both of these goals.
For some distance runners, being vegan means a total lifestyle change. Jurek runs a 40 mile per week ultra marathon, so he has obviously followed a strict vegan regimen since he started running. What he has found is that being a vegan is not as hard as he thought it would be, especially since the transition is fairly easy. He describes the food he eats as "power food" because it gives him the energy he needs to run as fast as he does. By eating so many vegetables and fruits, the runner doesn't need to eat meats or carbohydrates to get his energy.
Eat and run is a very good book for any distance runner, whether you are a beginner or an experienced ultramarathon runner. It provides lots of good information about nutrition and how to eat right to get the maximum benefits from your workout.
